The community of Shakespeare, Ontario, is mourning the loss of Jay Langford, who passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 60. Known for his warm personality, unwavering loyalty, and ability to connect with everyone he met, Jay leaves behind a legacy built on family, friendship, hard work, and kindness.
Born on October 5, 1965, Jay lived a life marked by dedication to those he loved. Family was at the center of everything he did. He was a devoted husband to Jennifer Langford (Van Raay) and a proud father to Riley, Mackenzie, and Harley Langford. Despite the demands of work and daily life, Jay made it a priority to stay connected with his children, often calling or texting simply to check in and make sure they were doing well. His love extended beyond his immediate family, as he welcomed his children’s friends into his life with the same care, support, and humor he shared with his own family.
Jay was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Madison Francis Langford, as well as his parents, Donna and Cliff Langford. He also mourned the loss of several extended family members over the years. Those who survive him will remember his strength, resilience, and ability to find joy even during difficult times.
A graduate of Ridgetown College, Jay spent much of his career in agriculture before transitioning into the trucking industry. He earned the respect of coworkers and employers alike through his dependable nature, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Most recently, he worked as a driver for DJ Jackson Haulage.
Outside of work, Jay enjoyed motorcycle riding, poker games, and spending time with friends. He had a rare gift for making people feel welcome and valued, whether they were lifelong companions or complete strangers.
Family and friends will gather on June 26 at the Shakespeare & District Optimist Hall to celebrate Jay’s life, share memories, and honor a man whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
